If Iran’s nuclear dossier is not closed during the current IAEA Board session, Majlis deputies as well as other government officials should refuse to ratify the additional protocol to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and should also resume uranium enrichment activities, he opined.
Khalili said that the Europeans threaten to refer Iran’s nuclear dossier to the United Nations Security Council, although these European countries are in dire need of access to Iran’s oil, manpower, and markets, adding that he believes the threats are only a political bluff.
Through their efforts to keep Iran’s nuclear dossier open at the IAEA Board, the Europeans are trying to prevent Iran from producing nuclear fuel in order to keep the Islamic Republic dependent on other countries for supplies of the fuel, he observed.
He went on to say that a national resistance front has recently been formed in the country, so Iranian officials should not back down because the nation supports their position.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Khalili stated that Iran has acted logically in the negotiation process but the Europeans have not responded appropriately to the Islamic Republic’s efforts to foster confidence, but rather have always pursued their own interests and tried to deprive Iran of its inalienable rights.
If the results of the current IAEA Board session are not positive, Iran should resume its nuclear activities, and MPs can play an essential role in that regard, he said in conclusion.
